Once a year in the spring our stage come to life with an intergenerational, dynamic musical. This group offers acting, creative and spiritual growth opportunities to folks of all ages. We welcome those who have a background in acting, whether it’s the high school one-act-play or a lifelong profession, and for those who have no acting background – we open our doors. This is a space to make friends across generations, support and learn from each other and create a musical experience that entertains, provokes thought and brings people together. Lake Harriet Players started in 2001 with their first production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Over the years, Lake Harriet Players has entertained audiences with many family-friendly shows including Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hello Dolly, Wizard of Oz, Godspell, A Year with Frog & Toad, Annie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (for their 10th anniversary), Seussical, Once Upon a Mattress and Godspell.

This year in March, the Pirates sail ashore!

Lake Harriet Players present Gilbert and Sullivan’s rollicking light opera, The Pirates of Penzance. The famous musical abounds with both lightning fast patter songs and heart-soaring arias as young Frederic attempts to leave his band of pirates for his new-found love Mabel. Obstacles ensue: departed loves, a mischievous Major General with many daughters, bumbling authorities, and the maligned orphan pirates.

The show features song classics like I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major General, and the rousing With Cat-Like Tread. There’s lots of color in our production set in the 1960s, and the dancing is wild and joyous!

Our intergenerational cast of 65, our orchestra, our crew, and the Lake Harriet Players all invite you to join us for a show full of laughter, tenderness, and glorious music.
